The Cattery is meticulously designed to the highest standards as stipulated by the Feline Advisory Bureau. Being spacious, warm, comfortable, healthy and hygienic. The chalet areas are full height with different shelving levels for sleeping in the warm by the heated panel, or snoozing in the sun at the front.

Chalets accommodation for single or double cats (from the same household), with larger accommodation for up to four cats (from the same household). Cats from different households are never mixed, or have contact with each other.

First Class Accommodation

  • Cattery consists of 29 units taking one or two cats and three units taking up to four cats - sharing of units is only for cats from the same household
  • Beds with cosy fleecy blankets, scratching posts, floor mats, food dishes and various toys are all supplied clean and fresh - heated beds available if required
  • Units are serviced with hotel style routine in the morning and are cleaned and tidied through, then regularly checked throughout the day.
  • Adequate litter trays depending on the cats needs are supplied, with soiled trays regularly attended to
  • Disposable food dishes used
  • Hotel type smoke alarms fitted to each unit
  • Individually thermostatically controlled wall heater panels along sleeping shelves
  • Vacated units accessories are removed washed and disinfected, with the unit thoroughly washed and disinfected throughout before it is reoccupied.
  • Trigene Advanced disinfectant used throughout
  • Units separated by frosted sneeze barriers
  • Units open onto safety corridor, with all corridor outer doors having spring safety closing
  • Cattery overlooks the garden area where there is always plenty to keep the cats interest and attention with many wild birds and an aviary

What You Need To Bring For Boarding

Necessary:

  • Cats In Strong Secure Carriers
  • Up to date vaccination cards (see health vaccination requirements)
  • Medications (if any)
  • Prescription Diets (if any)

Optional Items:

  • Small blanket or something similar from home to put in bed to initially help cats settle
  • Favourite toy or two (CATZ also Provide)
  • Own Grooming Items (CATZ also Provide)

Vaccination Requirements & Health

Vaccinations - Cat Flu & Enteritis Vaccines

All cats entering the cattery must have up to date vaccinations against Upper Respiratory Infections (cat flu) and enteritis (the two basic vaccines requirement). All cats must be vaccinated annually, with the annual booster no more than 3 months overdue.

Overdue boosters (more than 3 months overdue) requires the cat to be started again with the two part vaccination (3 weeks apart), then allowing a week before the cat is eligible to board - making a total period of 4 weeks from the first part vaccination to when the cat is safe to board.

To avoid potential problems when arriving for boarding, if you are unsure at all of your cats vaccinations please telephone the cattery prior to boarding to check if your vaccinations are covered, as we cannot accept cats that are not fully vaccinated.

Health

Each unit is supplied with a daily chart to monitor the litter tray use, feeding, medications and any other health related issues (if any). This enables staff to follow the occupants daily well-being and if anything needs addressing. Should a cat become ill or require vetting, CATZ endeavours to use the owners regular vets (depending on distance). If it is an ongoing complaint with a cat then the veterinary fees are charged to the owner. If it is a new problem that has occurred whilst boarding then the cattery insurance will cover costs up to £1500.

Both male and female cats over the age of 6 months must be neutered/spayed.

Please be aware that CATZ Cattery becomes booked up very quickly, and you are advised to secure your dates with us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We believe we are one of the best catteries in Birmingham and many of our customers check we have availability for their cat before they book their holiday!
